St. Maries is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 22 runs two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Potlatch on Tuesday. They lost 12-2 to the Loggers. The contest marked the Lumberjacks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
St. Maries saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Stewart, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Averie Baird also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Timberlake faced off against Kellogg on Tuesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 13-3 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Shae Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Timberlake got a big performance out of Alannah Winland, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Sadie Green, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Timberlake's record is now 5-1. As for St. Maries, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
St. Maries' speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Lumberjacks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Timberlake, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will St. Maries continue to outrun the ball?
St. Maries suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Timberlake when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Lumberjacks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
