It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Pee Dee Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with an 11-8 victory over the Dillon Christian Warriors. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-2 on Tuesday.
Briggs Jones and Neal Bryd made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Jones pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Bryd struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, Jones posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At the plate, Jones went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI, while Bryd went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Pee Dee Academy got a massive performance out of Tristan Heckman, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That home run was Heckman's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chandler James, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Pee Dee Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The win made it two in a row for Pee Dee Academy and bumps their season record up to 11-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Dillon Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Coincidentally, Pee Dee Academy and Dillon Christian will both be playing Marlboro Academy the next time they take the field. The Warriors will host the Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Golden Eagles will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
