Hayley Hinds made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sariyah Jackson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Maleah Rouse, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Paxon School For Advanced Studies was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Suwannee hadn't done well against West Nassau recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Warriors a 1-0 shutout. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Warriors on their field since May 3, 2017.
Paxon School For Advanced Studies' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Suwannee, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Paxon School For Advanced Studies came out on top in a nail-biter against Suwannee in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
