2A District 3 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Cobre and Hot Springs played the most hotly contested game in 2A District 3 this week, with Cobre eventually emerging with a 26-22 victory.
Tularosa took down Loving 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Hatch Valley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chase Carson threw for 76 yards and Sergio Grajeda had 42 yards receiving. On the ground Adrian Grajeda chipped in 125 yards. Joel Cisneros helped Hatch Valley's passing attack out by catching two balls for 34 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Carson of the Bears is the league leader in passing yards this season with 603. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, Lordsburg's Wendell Hayes has rushed for 464 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Christian Jimenez. The Mesilla Valley Christian star has eight catches for 271 yards.
The Wildcats led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on the Falcons.
