The Providence Panthers will head out to square off against the Independence Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.
Providence's last matchup with Marvin Ridge could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Panthers lost 15-7 to the Mavericks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 16, 2024.

Camryn O'Connor and Pheonix Scott did some serious damage despite the final result: O'Connor went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Scott scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Scott is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson McAllister, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Independence entered their tilt with Garinger on Friday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 11 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Michaela Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Williams was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydnee Platt, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Joelle Alexander, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Independence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in nine consecutive matches.
Independence pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Providence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Providence hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .409. However, it's not like Independence struggles in that department as they've averaged .397. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Providence's way against Independence in their previous matchup back in March, as Providence made off with a 10-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
