The Cheyenne Desert Shields will face off against the Nuview Bridge Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cheyenne is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
If Cheyenne beats Nuview Bridge with 16 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Desert Shields put the hurt on Desert Pines with a sharp 16-1 win on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Desert Shields as they're now sitting on three straight.
Taven Thaker made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Raymundo Chevalier, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those eight RBI gave him a new career-high. Tapa Gamoras was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.
Cheyenne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Nuview Bridge's offense. They fell just short of Virgin Valley by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Knights have suffered since March 19, 2025.
Nuview Bridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethen Rivera, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Cheyenne's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Nuview Bridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-5-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Cheyenne has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Nuview Bridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits.
