The Mitchell Mustangs will face off against the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Mitchell earned a 5-1 victory over Wesley Chapel. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Savannah Toukatly made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Toukatly was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Madyson Whitaker was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Audrey Midyett, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with.
Meanwhile, Palm Harbor University got the win against Northeast on Friday by a conclusive 13-7. The win continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won four in a row.
Like Mitchell, Palm Harbor University also got a great game from a two-way player: Mylie Stout. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. The dominant performance gave Stout a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Amelia Curry was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Katie Fasting was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Palm Harbor University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast only posted a batting average of .290.
Mitchell's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Palm Harbor University, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-0.
