Bishop Machebeuf has gone a perfect 3-0 against Platte Canyon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Buffaloes will square off against the Huskies at 1:00 p.m. Bishop Machebeuf is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Bishop Machebeuf took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lyons, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Jack Menke made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bishop Machebeuf is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise. Menke was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miles Edgar, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Platte Canyon was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Buena Vista. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Demons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Platte Canyon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colton Shirley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double.
Platte Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Bishop Machebeuf, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bishop Machebeuf has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Platte Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bishop Machebeuf took their win against Platte Canyon in their previous meeting back in March of 2017 by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buffaloes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
