Belle Chasse pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Hammond by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Tuesday (59), Belle Chasse still had to take the loss.
Defeat or not, Belle Chasse got some senior leadership from Kyle Reeves who scored 21 points along with two steals and Jaylen Hughes Ingram who scored 16 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of MJ Bacani, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Phoenix's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They blew past South Plaquemines, posting a 66-33 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Phoenix has posted since November 3, 2023.
DERVONTE ANCAR and RONDELL BATTLE were among the main playmakers for Phoenix as the former scored 18 points and the latter dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Belle Chasse hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 57 points per game. However, it's not like Phoenix struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 53.6 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Belle Chasse came out on top in a nail-biter against Phoenix in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, sneaking past 60-58. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was BATTLE, who scored 27 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Belle Chasse still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
