Central and the Timberwolves are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Central Grizzlies will head out on the road to square off against the Clovis East Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Central took a serious blow against the Broncos, falling 91-53. Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-19.
Branden Ezell put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Myron Pondexter-Johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Clovis East was handed a three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Cougars on Friday. Clovis East took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 65-31 win over the Cougars. Given Clovis East's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Cougars are ranked 379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Clovis East, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10.
Central took a serious blow against the Timberwolves in their previous matchup back in January, falling 70-43. Can Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
