The Southern Lab Kittens lost against the McKinley Panthers back in February of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Southern Lab fell 66-53 to McKinley. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southern Lab in their matchups with McKinley: they've now lost four in a row.
Southern Lab's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charles Leblanc, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy Murphy, who scored 12 points.
Southern Lab's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for McKinley, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Southern Lab will head out on the road to face off against Booker T. Washington at 2:50 p.m. on Thursday. Booker T. Washington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Southern Lab is ranked 79th). McKinley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Episcopal at 3:30 p.m. on December 16th. One thing working in Episcopal's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
