Florence is 2-8 against St. Mary since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Florence Huskies will be playing at home against the St. Mary's Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Florence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, everything came up roses for Florence at home against La Junta as the team secured a 64-37 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Florence.
It was another big night for Gage Goodall, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 20 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 12 rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Garrett Royer, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They were the victim of a rough 56-30 loss at the hands of The Vanguard School. While losing is never fun, St. Mary's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while The Vanguard School is ranked 38th).
Florence is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
Everything came up roses for Florence against St. Mary's in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 69-36 victory. Will Florence repeat their success, or does St. Mary's have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
