The Liberty Lancers on the road again on Wednesday and play against the Rampart Rams at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Liberty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Liberty lost to Hays on the road by a decisive 62-43 margin.
London Praytor put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 18 points along with three blocks and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Cunningham, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Rampart's five-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They breezed by Widefield on the road to the tune of 78-50. Rampart's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rampart to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deangelo Smith, who scored 19 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elias Bishop, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Liberty's defeat was their 17th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-10. As for Rampart, their win ended a 11-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Liberty hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 54.8 points per game. It's a different story for Rampart, though, as they've been averaging only 60.7 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Liberty couldn't quite finish off Rampart when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 56-53. Can Liberty avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
