Not much got past Jillian Bradley, who gave up just four hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep Pocono Mountain East off the board. Bradley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Pen Argyl saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Scherer, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Grace Weaver was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Stroudsburg waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Hawks. Considering the Mountaineers have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Stroudsburg let Elena Trotter and Katren Lavra run wild. Trotter went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Lavra went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Trotter continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Dorothy Elko, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.
Stroudsburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.
Pen Argyl pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Stroudsburg, their record now sits at 9-2.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pen Argyl hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Stroudsburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pen Argyl suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Stroudsburg in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Can the Green Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
