Canfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Boardman Spartans at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Canfield posted their biggest win since November 27, 2023 on Wednesday. They breezed by Harding at home to the tune of 61-33. Given Canfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Harding is ranked 322nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Boardman earned a 60-52 win over Howland on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Boardman.
Boardman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mackenzie Riccitelli, who scored 25 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Riccitelli has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Bero, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Canfield's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Boardman, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.
Canfield came up short against Boardman in their previous meeting on January 3rd, falling 46-41. Can Canfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
