Pine Grove is 2-8 against Pottsville since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Pine Grove Cardinals will head out on the road to take on the Pottsville Crimson Tide at 7:30 p.m. Pine Grove has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Pine Grove scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They strolled past Jim Thorpe with points to spare, taking the game 61-45. That 16 points margin sets a new team best for Pine Grove this season.
Meanwhile, Pottsville entered their tilt with North Schuylkill with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Pottsville slipped by North Schuylkill 49-48 on Thursday. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 66% better than the opposition, as Pottsville's was.
Pottsville can attribute much of their success to Kole Becker, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Alvarez, who scored 11 points.
Pine Grove's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-12. As for Pottsville, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Pine Grove was taken down by Pottsville 65-37 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Pine Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
