Hilliard hasn't had much luck against Providence School recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hilliard Red Flashes will look to defend their home court against the Providence School Stallions at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Providence School will be up against a hot Hilliard squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Everything went Hilliard's way against St. Johns Country Day on Monday as Hilliard made off with a 59-34 win. Given the Red Flashes' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Spartans are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hilliard relied on the efforts of Molly Dean, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine steals, and Alyssa Hallman, who went 8 for 15 en route to 19 points along with six boards and three steals. Dean is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Justice Alderman was another key player, putting up eight points.
Hilliard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Providence School got the win against Ponte Vedra on Tuesday by a conclusive 60-37. The Stallions pushed the score to 51-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Sharks cut but never quite recovered from.
Providence School's win came from a few key players Hilliard will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kasey Davey, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Janai Jordan, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Providence School's victory was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Hilliard, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hilliard has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 32.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Providence School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Hilliard was taken down by Providence School 57-23 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Will Hilliard have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
