The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Heathwood Hall Episcopal in their matchups with Cardinal Newman: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Heathwood Hall Episcopal saw an underclassman step up: Chase Reuss scored 14 points. Chip Ravenell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Cardinal Newman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josiah Peeples, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Elton Smith jr., who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Heathwood Hall Episcopal dropped their record down to 5-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cardinal Newman, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heathwood Hall Episcopal will challenge Trinity Collegiate at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cardinal Newman, they will head out on the road to face off against First Baptist School at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
