Kaitlyn Klasen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Gabby Schoenberg and Celia Schoenberg did most of the damage at the plate: Gabby went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Celia went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That's the most hits Celia has posted over her last seven matchups. Raelyn Frieler also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Albany, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Royalton on Friday as they made off with an 8-2 victory.
Albany also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Keira Horning gave up just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Katie Braun, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Josie Dingmann, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Albany now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Melrose, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.
Melrose came out on top in a nail-biter against Albany in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Dutchmen repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
