The Mountain View Mavericks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. The game between them and Eagle wasn't particularly close, with Mountain View falling 54-40. While losing is never fun, Mountain View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Mustangs are ranked 12th).
Despite the defeat, Mountain View saw an underclassman step up: Quincy Keller scored 17 points along with two steals. That was a full 42.5% of Mountain View's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrie Judd, who scored 12 points.
Eagle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Porter Wood out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Wood is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Berkley Jones was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Mountain View dropped their record down to 3-17 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Eagle, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Mountain View will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kavemen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Eagle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
