Basketball Recap: Summer Snaith Key Part of a Team Effort in Cougars Win

Merritt Island Christian posted their biggest win since February 14, 2024 on Friday. They blew past the Cocoa Beach Minutemen 58-33. The Cougars didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Merritt Island Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Summer Snaith out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Snaith's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keri Shea, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists.

Merritt Island Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cocoa Beach only posted five assists.

Cocoa Beach lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kendra Weth, who posted 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Those 15 points gave Weth a new career-high. Baylea Holland was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

Merritt Island Christian's record now sits at 5-9. As for Cocoa Beach, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Merritt Island Christian has already played their next game, a 41-37 victory against Rockledge on the 13th. As for Cocoa Beach, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 34-27 win against Merritt Island on the 14th.
