It was a good run, but the St. Joseph Central Irish unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 52-44 to Huntington.
Despite the loss, St. Joseph Central had strong showings from Ava Gallion, who scored 17 points, and Sophie Ransbottom, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Gallion has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times she's played.
St. Joseph Central's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Huntington, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Central will take on the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully East Carter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday. As for Huntington, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. Boyd County and the Highlanders are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
