Olathe has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Cedaredge Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Cedaredge took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Olathe, who comes in off a win.
Olathe scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They really took it to West Grand for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-23 win at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Olathe has managed all season.
Olathe found their leader in underclassman Isaiah Gordon, who scored 29 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Vargas, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Cedaredge's 18-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 61-49 to Meeker on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Cedaredge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Meeker is ranked 86th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Luke Maxey, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Rylan Brooks, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, Cedaredge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meeker only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Olathe's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Cedaredge, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-9.
Things could have been worse for Olathe, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 80-65 loss to Cedaredge when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Olathe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
