The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans will square off against the Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Albany get on the board and left with a 22-0 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Ava Yahoudy and Jessica Stusinski made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Yahoudy pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Stusinski struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. At the plate, Yahoudy went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Stusinski got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Emily Martin and Grace Adone did most of the damage at the plate: Martin went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Adone went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave Martin a new career-high. Bailey Dinon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Saratoga Springs started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Bethlehem Central. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles on Wednesday.
Jackie Cutting spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Ava Goodman and Emily Ruscio did some serious damage despite the final result: Goodman got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Ruscio went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Saratoga Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake took their victory against Saratoga Springs in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-6 score. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Streaks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
