The Westwood Panthers lost against the Martin County Tigers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Westwood was dealt a 74-37 loss at the hands of Martin County. Westwood has not had much luck with Martin County recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Westwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jihla Greer. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmyne Jones, who scored three points.
Martin County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karolina Ramirez, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Becca Witt, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals.
Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Martin County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Westwood will head out on the road to face off against Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Martin County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lincoln Park Academy at 6:30 p.m. on December 14th. Lincoln Park Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
