Avondale extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-8. They came up short against the Southfield Arts & Tech Warriors, falling 21-11. If the Yellowjackets were looking for revenge after losing 21-6 to the Warriors when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Avondale saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miranda Cardiff, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Cardiff has brought in this season. Isabel Beltinck was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
As for Southfield Arts & Tech, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Southfield Arts & Tech's side, London Adams, 2028 was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 19 over six innings pitched. Those 19 strikeouts gave Adams, 2028 a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and three RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.
In other batting news, Cienna Bell, 2028 was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Bathsheba Crain, 2027, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases.
While Avondale had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
