While Alton's win against Winona wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Comets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Wildcats on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Alton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Winona, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-12.

Alton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-10 loss against Summersville on the 13th. Hopefully Winona paid attention to the Comets' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Comets at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
