3A Region III District 19 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Aaron Cain and Cooper Cole provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Rusk. The connection was good for 53 yards, the longest such play in 3A Region III District 19 this season.
Cain of Fairfield ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against the Eagles last week. Cain scampered for 65 yards on the play and finished with 67 on the day as his team defeated Rusk.
Fairfield's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cain threw for 204 and two touchdowns and Cole had 89 yards receiving. On the ground Larry Rose chipped in 108 yards. Chris Lide helped Fairfield's passing attack out by catching four balls for 65 yards.
Fairfield's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cain has thrown for 693 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Cole has 17 catches for 299 yards. Andre Welch leads the league in rushing with 614 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region III District 19 this week will be when John Bachtel's team takes on Groesbeck. The Eagles are currently in fourth, while the Goats are in first.
Groesbeck moved up to 317 from 411 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Goats climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Mexia 43-6.
