The Box Elder Bears pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Centerville 60-55. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Box Elder of the 65-54 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Box Elder saw an underclassman step up: Martay Stiffarm-Rosette scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 45.5% of Box Elder's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Taizj Henry, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Box Elder's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Centerville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Box Elder won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Thunder Birds at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hays-Lodge Pole is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Centerville's road trip will continue as they head out to face the on January 29th. Denton/Stanford/Geyser/Geraldine presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Miners in Montana (the are ranked tenth, while the Miners are ranked 63rd).
