Olivia Galloway made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kelsy Spears was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. McKenzie McDonald was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Cleveland Central came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 14-3 win. Considering the Wolves have won 16 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Jada Kinney, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Makenah Jefferson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Cleveland Central's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pontotoc, their record now sits at 16-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pontotoc has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cleveland Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Pontotoc was able to grind out a solid victory over Cleveland Central when the teams last played back in March of 2022, winning 8-5. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
