The Mingus Marauders were the 67-58 winner over the Flagstaff Eagles when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Mingus fell 73-62 to Flagstaff on Monday. Mingus just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Despite the loss, Mingus still got an impressive performance from Alerik Villalobos, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Villalobos continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Ricky Villalobos was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
It was another big night for Jake Centner, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds for Flagstaff. Another player making a difference was Harrison Fritsch, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Mingus' loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Flagstaff, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mingus will take on Prescott at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Prescott's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches. As for Flagstaff, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Bradshaw Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Hopefully Bradshaw Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Monday.
