York-Adams III recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to York Catholic, who took down 290th ranked Littlestown, 38-35.
Bermudian Springs extended the longest winning streak in York-Adams III this week by beating York Suburban, 42-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Eagles.
Delone Catholic's dynamic duo of Brett Smith and Austin Noel proved tough for Biglerville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smith threw for 131 yards and two touchdowns and Noel had 109 yards receiving. Lance Reneker helped Delone Catholic's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
Ryan Rickell was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 111 yards on 11 carries as the Thunderbolts defeated the Canners. Dustin DeGroft also contributed to the rushing game with 66 yards on the ground.
5-foot-10 quarterback James Dougherty of the Fighting Irish is the league leader in passing yards this season with 581. He has also thrown four touchdowns. On the ground, York County Tech's Calvin Savary has rushed for 542 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Nick Hornbrook. The Littlestown star has 20 catches for 246 yards.
A big matchup in York-Adams III this week will be when Bermudian Springs takes on Delone Catholic. At the moment, Jon DeFoe's team is in first, while Steve Wiles's team is in fifth.
York Catholic moved up to 349 from 409 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Eric Depew's team was able to make the jump by beating Littlestown 38-35.
