Eureka and Pleasanton squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Eureka had to settle for second. They fell 74-67 to the Pleasanton Blu-Jays. One positive for the Tornadoes, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Eureka lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tyson Coon, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 boards. Eureka is 2-1 when Coon posts 20 or more points, but 3-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Laken Valentine, who posted 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, Eureka was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Eureka is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15. As for Pleasanton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-8.
