The Sahuarita Mustangs can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 70-29 win over Walden Grove on the road. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Sahuarita as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Sahuarita's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karol Ortiz, who scored 19 points along with five assists and five steals. Ortiz has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Camila Villalobos, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Sahuarita's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-8. As for Walden Grove, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sahuarita will take on Walden Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Walden Grove will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Sahuarita is ranked 70th). Walden Grove won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Crismon at 5:00 p.m. on January 19th.
