The Minden Whippets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They snuck past Broken Bow with a 52-48 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Minden also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Minden's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Myla Emery, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Emery has scored at least 25% of Minden's points. Makenna Starkey was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Minden's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Broken Bow, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minden will take on Central City at TBD on Tuesday. Central City's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Minden's offense will have their work cut out for Minden. Broken Bow will be home for the holidays to greet Ainsworth at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
