The Wesley Chapel Wildcats waltzed into their matchup Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 71-54 victory over Cypress Creek. Given Wesley Chapel's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Cypress Creek is ranked 385th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wesley Chapel's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sian Morris, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Morris' 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trey Murray, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Wesley Chapel's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Cypress Creek, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Wesley Chapel will be playing in front of their home fans against Land O' Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Land O' Lakes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Saturday. As for Cypress Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Wiregrass Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wiregrass Ranch knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matchups -- so hopefully Cypress Creek likes a good challenge.
