The Arroyo Knights will challenge the South El Monte Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Arroyo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Arroyo's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past El Monte 12-0. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Nathan Castillo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jacob Antuna was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Oscar Lopez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Arroyo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, South El Monte came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 6-0 win. The Eagles' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.
The team relied heavily on Anthony Mata, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Matthew Velazquez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Arroyo's record is now 10-7. As for South El Monte, their record now sits at 12-7.
Arroyo skirted past South El Monte 1-0 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
