It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but McCormick had no problem doing just that on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 72-51 margin over the Horse Creek Academy Stallions. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.
McCormick got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Terrence Cartledge out in front who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 17 rebounds. That's the most points Cartledge has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Demontae Wideman, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 14 points in addition to six steals and five boards.
Horse Creek Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was RJ Patrick, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Hightower, who had 14 points.
McCormick has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points over those games. Horse Creek Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.
McCormick wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-53 loss against C.A. Johnson on the 19th. Horse Creek Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
