The LaFayette Bulldogs and the Sand Rock Wildcats squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the LaFayette Bulldogs had to settle for second. They were dealt a 74-30 defeat at the hands of the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, LaFayette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while Sand Rock is ranked 73rd).
Sand Rock was led to victory by Zoey Handy and Katelyn St.Clair. Handy scored 19 points along with four steals, while St.Clair scored 23 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Peyton Johnson, who scored seven points along with two steals.
LaFayette has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Sand Rock, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-7.
LaFayette does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sand Rock also has no future games currently scheduled.
