After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southridge, the Mater Lakes Academy Bears were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They came out on top against Lake Wales by a score of 74-63. With that victory, Mater Lakes Academy brought their scoring average up to 52 points per game.
Mater Lakes Academy found their leader in underclassman Vanessa Vancott, who scored 25 points along with 8 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Vancott has scored at least 25% of Mater Lakes Academy's points. Mya Glover was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
The victory got Mater Lakes Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Lake Wales, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Mater Lakes Academy will head out on the road to face off against Miami Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake Wales, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Davenport at 8:00 p.m.
