With a playoff win on the line, Madonna rose to the challenge on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Trinity Christian Warriors. The result was nothing new for the Blue Dons, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Sam Brooks made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Madonna got a massive performance out of Mathew Geer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits Geer has posted since back in March. David Connors was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Madonna always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Madonna's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Trinity Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Madonna didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 23-0 victory against Wellsville on the 22nd. As for Trinity Christian, they will face off against Magnolia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
