Covenant Christian is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Aggieland HomeSchool.
Meanwhile, Tomball Kings entered their tilt with Cooper on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 13-12 W against the Dragons. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Asher Chapa made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Tomball Kings is 6-2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 6-10 otherwise. Chapa was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Tomball Kings let Avery Bell and Owen Wilkins run wild. Bell went 1-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Wilkins scored a run while going 2-for-4. Tomball Kings is undefeated when Bell posts three or more RBI, but 8-12-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jonah Irvine, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Tomball Kings kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Tomball Kings pushed their record up to 12-12-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Covenant Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
