The Braymer Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Southwest Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Braymer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Braymer came up short against Maysville and fell 59-52. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Braymer in their matchups with Maysville: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Carter Shoe, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Shoe is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Dakota Brandon was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 9 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southwest's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 56-20 defeat at the hands of Orrick.
Grant Warren was Southwest's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Breckyn Volker held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. Volker took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 2-1 season records intact.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's matchup: Braymer have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 40% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Southwest, though, as they've only made 25% of theirs this season. Given Braymer's sizeable advantage in that area, Southwest will need to find a way to close that gap. Everything came up roses for Braymer against Southwest when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 75-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Braymer since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
