Coahoma is 0-5 against Abernathy since October of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Coahoma Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Abernathy Antelopes at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Coahoma is ranked 742nd, while Abernathy is ranked 757th).
Coahoma fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Roosevelt with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 41-22. Coahoma pushed the score to 34-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Roosevelt cut but never quite recovered from.
Coahoma got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaidyn Vineyard out in front who rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Vineyard's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Perkins, who threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Abernathy got themselves on the board against Stanton on Friday, but Stanton never followed suit. They blew past the Buffaloes, posting a 41-0 win on the road. Considering Abernathy has won three games by more than 30 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Coahoma now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Abernathy, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Coahoma took a serious blow against Abernathy when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 49-19. Can Coahoma avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
