The Las Lomas Knights will head out to square off against the Salesian College Preparatory Pride at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Las Lomas took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 12-7 win over Pittsburg. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won three in a row.
Meanwhile, Salesian College Preparatory waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Jaguars get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
DeAmor Coleman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Gloria Alcaire was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Valeria Cuevas, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Salesian College Preparatory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Salesian College Preparatory pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Las Lomas, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-5.
Las Lomas might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Salesian College Preparatory in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
