The Bridges Prep Buccaneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Whale Branch Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Bridges Prep suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 82-26 loss at the hands of Allendale-Fairfax. Bridges Prep has struggled against Allendale-Fairfax recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Makayla Lapp, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Whale Branch took a serious blow against Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Thursday, falling 58-11. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Whale Branch has scored all season.
Bridges Prep bumped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Whale Branch, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.
Bridges Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Whale Branch in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, sneaking past 31-29. Does Bridges Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Whale Branch turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
