It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Richland Royals had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Frisco 48-21 at home. The win was just business as usual for Richland, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Richland was led to victory by Drew Kates and Michael Turner. Kates threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, while Turner rushed for 195 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Turner is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another big playmaker for Richland was Deon Jones, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Despite the defeat, Frisco saw an underclassman step up: Jackson Voris picked up 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Voris was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 68 yards.
Richland's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Frisco, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
Richland will take on Barbers Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Barbers Hill is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Frisco does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
