Softball Game Preview: Murdock Blue Devils vs. North Brookfield Indians

Murdock has gone a perfect 8-0 against North Brookfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will square off against the Indians at 4:00 p.m. North Brookfield took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Murdock, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Murdock turned things around against Nashoba Valley Tech on Friday. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 19-16.

Shannon Connolly was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Lilyana Lee was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Murdock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, North Brookfield came up short against North Middlesex Regional on Monday and fell 13-9. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Murdock's win bumped their record up to 2-12. As for North Brookfield, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Murdock skirted past North Brookfield 20-18 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
