Everything went Towson's way against Owings Mills on Monday as Towson made off with a 62-36 victory. Considering Towson has won three matchups by more than 25 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Towson was led to victory by Korey Collins and Quint Fryer. Collins dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Fryer scored 14 points along with eight assists and five steals. The match was Collins' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Renner, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Owings Mills lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marcus Nelson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Nelson scored a full 55.6% of Owings Mills' points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Towson's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Owings Mills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Towson will take on Kenwood at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Kenwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for Owings Mills, they will head out on the road to face off against Franklin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
