Football Recap: West Nassau Piles Up the Points Against Global Outreach Charter Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Nassau). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Global Outreach Charter Academy Kodiaks 34-0. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Kodiaks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

West Nassau's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danyelle Bell, who rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 60 receiving yards. Payton Jefferson was another key player, rushing for 24 yards and a pair of TDs.

Bell was just one part of a punishing run game: West Nassau was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

West Nassau didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Olivia Wiggins picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. She got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

West Nassau pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.4 points on average over those games. As for Global Outreach Charter Academy, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Nassau will venture away from home to take on Bishop Snyder at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals' defense has only allowed 8.4 points per game this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Global Outreach Charter Academy, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Wolfson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
